Gabe McKinley (100 and Long Jump) and Michelle Bigger (Long Jump and Triple Jump) were double-winners. Jon Hasty won the 200 and Gracie Feeney won the 300 Hurdles. Both 4 x 100 Relays won in EPG record time. The girls team of Gracie Feeney, Michelle Bigger, Maddie Morrison, and Kaylynn Schlipf was timed in 52.2, the fastest time since 1985. The boys team of Gabe McKinley, Mitchell Endress, Dustyn Brown, and Jon Hasty had a 45.4 time, apparently the fastest since 1978. The boys and girls also each had five second places. Also winning were the girls Frosh-Soph 4 x 400 relay of Feeney, Kalli Meinhold, Aubrey Staton, and Morrison; the boys Frosh-Soph 4 x 400 of Brendan Loftus, Andy Layden, Tyler Dawson, and Ludy; and the boys Varsity 4 x 400 of Lukas Kiefer, Ryan Filkins, Alec Ihlenfeldt, and Hunter Cobbley. The last relay clinched the win for the boys. Race of the day came in the Co-ed Class Relay, when Adam Ludy made up 125 yards on the 800 anchor leg to nip Heyworth at the finish line for the win. His time of 2:05.5 was a personal best by four seconds. Others on this relay of freshman and junior girls and sophomore and senior boys were Sarah Schug, Taylor Rarick, and Ryan Skare.
EPGHS Bass Club
Congratulations to the EPG Bass Club. They had a solid showing at the Illini Classic Bass Tournament held at Clinton Lake this Sunday. Out of an 82 boat field and teams coming as far as North Carolina, the team of Jake Hoselton and Tucker Schlipf finished 3rd overall netting a five fish limit over 15 pounds. Levi Umland and Kyle Colmone finished 5th overall with a catch of 12.6 pounds. Jake Hoselton caught the biggest fish of the tournament with a monster Bass weighing 6.5 lbs. EPG had 9 boats in the tournament with 18 EPG students fishing this weekend. Coach Bagnell wants to thank all the Bass Club members and the Boat Captains for their hard work and effort to make this tournament a success.
